Connect your Instagram

Instagram is one of the densest pictures of your voice you have: the captions you write, the formats that land, and what your audience says back. Connecting it brings all of that into byline.

What comes in

When you connect Instagram, byline reads your own account and keeps a memory of it:

  • Your feed posts, reels and carousels, with their captions as your written voice.
  • The comments and replies on your posts, so byline hears your audience in their own words.
  • How each post performs over time: views, likes, comments, saves, shares, reach, profile visits and follows, plus reel watch time.
  • Account-level numbers like follower count, and, once you pass 100 followers, a broad read on who your audience is (age, location, gender).

byline only ever reads your own account. It never scrapes anyone else.

What stays out

Some things are deliberately left alone:

  • Your direct messages. Private conversations stay private.
  • Your Stories archive.
  • Posting or publishing. byline reads, it never writes to your account on your behalf.
  • Other people's accounts, hashtag feeds and discovery. This is your work, not a scraper.

Connect your account

You will need a Professional account (Business or Creator). Switching is free inside Instagram's own settings and takes a minute.

  1. Open the Connect page in byline and choose Instagram.
  2. Sign in with Instagram once and approve access. byline never sees or stores your password.
  3. That is it. byline starts reading, beginning with your back catalogue and then keeping up with everything new.

Once Instagram is connected, that knowledge flows into whatever AI tool you write in. Paste your byline connection link into the tool's connectors or integrations settings, sign in once, and your voice and audience travel with you:

How it stays fresh

You connect once, and byline keeps the picture current on its own:

  • New posts are pulled in on a regular schedule, so your reels and captions show up without you lifting a finger.
  • New comments arrive quickly, with a nightly sweep that double-checks nothing was missed.
  • Performance is checked often while a post is fresh and the numbers are moving, then less often as it settles. Older posts are left to rest rather than polled forever.

If you ever want the latest right now, there is a resync button on the Connect page. It is gentle on your account, so it is available about every half hour.

If the connection drops

Instagram sign-ins expire after about sixty days. byline quietly renews yours in the background, so in the normal run of things you never notice.

If a connection does lapse (you change your password, or revoke access from Instagram), you will see it flagged on the Connect page, and reconnecting is the same one-step sign-in as before. Everything byline already learned from your posts stays put. Disconnecting, on purpose or by accident, never deletes your brand memory.

Comments stay separate from your voice

This matters, so it is worth saying plainly: your audience's comments are kept in their own space, apart from your own writing.

byline never blends commenters' words into your voice profile. Your captions and posts define how you sound. Comments feed something different: your insights, the nightly read on what your audience keeps asking for and what to make next. Your voice stays yours.
