How to use it
Three or four steps, then make it yours.

- Add who it's for if you want hooks that call them out directly.
- Pick video or written post.

Want hooks in your own voice? Connect what you've posted
byline reads the posts and videos you've already published, learns which openings are yours, and gives that voice to Claude and ChatGPT, so the next hook sounds like you, not a template.

Questions
About the hook generator
Is this hook generator free?
Yes. It's a free tool with no sign-up and no limit on how many times you use it.
Does it use AI?
Two ways, both on your device. The quick drafts come from templates, instantly. If your browser has a built-in AI model, or your computer can run one, it can also write hooks with AI: the model runs on your device, so nothing you type is sent to byline or anyone else.
What makes a good hook?
It's specific, it's short, and it makes a promise the rest of the video keeps. Swap the generic words in these drafts for a real number, place or result from your own work.
How long should a hook be?
For video, about the first one to three seconds: one sentence you can say in a breath. For a written post, the first line, before the platform cuts it off with “more”.
How do I get hooks that sound like me?
Connect Instagram or YouTube to byline. It reads what you've already published, builds a profile of how you write, and gives that profile to Claude and ChatGPT when you draft. $0.99 for your first month for eligible monthly payers, no free trial.
